Craziest week of my life!

I got the job.

Except it is now 4 days a week not three. (and maybe later it may go five but they may have to employ another part timer… I dont think I could do five)

I went house hunting in Tumby Bay… 50 kms from Port Lincoln (where the job is)…Our farm is 110 kms from Port Lincoln so this is half the distance…

Actually I went units-to-rent hunting in Port Lincoln first, but they were very expensive and Mr13 really wants to stay at same primary school until he finishes there this year and then go to Tumby Area School… fair enough…

Tumby Bay is incredibly safe too… the kids can walk about there quite safely… and many of the residents dont bother to lock their houses half the time…

There was absolutely nothing available to rent in Tumby Bay. Except for holiday accomodation and that was unbelievably expensive. But there was quite a few houses and units for sale that were actually relatively cheap… especially compared to Port Lincoln…. so….

We had a look….. fell in love with a little old cottage with a white painted picket fence…. right near to the school, shops, beach…. put in an offer… and it was accepted….

It has been completely renovated and painted thoroughly and nicely throughout and there is nothing that needs to be done… new electrics and everything. It could actually be a very lucrative little holiday rental too if we wanted some extra cash…

Mr13 is SO excited…. when I asked him what he would do in the town he said he was going to go around and knock on everyone’s door and ask them if they would come and play with him…..!

I didn’t realise how lonely he was, out on the farm!

I am in Whyalla, about 21/2 hours from home undertaking training for the new job. The kids are at Grandma’s, much to her delight. The man is working in the farm…. doing a good job…. he is having his proper inspection of our new ‘town’ house sometime – he is a builder – but I am confident he will be satisfied with the reno as it was done very well by the owner who is also a builder….

This will be MY house… the farm business will finance the deposit but I am going to pay off the loan from my wages from my new job. I am working for a not-for-profit charity organisation and they have a fantastic salary sacrifice arrangement with a broker that takes advantage of the charity tax exeption laws… so I will be paying less tax on my wages if I can salary sacrifice mortgage payments…

As the farm business pays for all its own debts and for most of our living expenses it was a good opportunity for me to have something I have bought personally and outside of the farm land investment too….

So excited and happy… the job training is wonderful… it seems like it is a great job – everything is so well prepared for us (there is another new teacher too starting in another town  – she is lovely and very young….)

Okay, firstly, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww what is with all the gross notes. Secondly, Congratulations!!! So will the man be staying on the farm while you live in the other house? We were just talking about you last night. The twins were talking about the sun and how the earth rotates around it, which is why when it’s sunny here, it’s dark on the other side of the earth. So I told themI knew soeone on the other side of the earth. They thought that was pretty cool.
