Surgery is Complete!
Yesterday’s weigh in: 123.3 lbs.
I had surgery bright and early yesterday morning at 5:30 AM. The surgery was and is the last ditch attempt at ending a three year long battle with pain from a car accident in 2010 in my right ankle. The orthopedic surgeon removed all 4 pins in my ankle with little to no difficulty. I arrived at the hospitals outpatient place at 5:30 and surgery started at 7:00 AM. I was completely done and discharged by 11:00 AM. They kept a close eye on my hypoglycemia. They took the blood glucose level once right before surgery and it was 88. They never said if it crashed during or after. They also gave me a lot of medicine for nausea and vomiting due to complications from the second surgery’s anesthesia. This time around I had no problems with nausea or vomiting.
I spent a good majority of yesterday sleeping and taking pain pills. Right now I’m up due to having pain but I just took a pain pill (Norco) at 1:30 AM and still am in pain at 3:40 ish AM. I’m hobbling around on crutches but got the okay to bear weight at about 50% but no more then that. I really, honestly, haven’t really gotten to weight bear on it since coming home because I have been in pain and in all honestly don’t want to hurt it on accident or endure more pain then what i am already having. I ate relatively decent last night and am proud of that. I’m just keeping an eye on what i do and don’t eat.
My husband is dropping me off at my mom and dad’s house tomorrow morning while he goes into the church to do some pastoral duties. My father-in-law is in town to help with Todd seeing as I can’t because I’m pretty much laid up and Todd is in a wheelchair. So we both made a list of things for my father-in-law to do in our house as fixer-uppers while he is in town. So far it has been very pleasant having him here in town.
I’ll be laid up for a good three weeks or so. My father-in-law is in town until next Tuesday and then my mother-in-law is coming to live with us for a few weeks while I wait to get the sutures and bandages removed from m ankle and then given the okay to return to driving and working. I told my place of employment I may be out for three weeks.I have my follow-up post-op appointment with the surgeon on the 17th of April. I am really hoping this ends all the pain I have been in since 2010.
p.s I have been keeping an eye on all of your entries but haven’t gotten around to noting. Now that i have more time I can note and stuff!
