I has a corm

My third entry in as many days.  I am back on the wagon?

I am so super incredibly pleased with the ring that I’ve bought for Bryan.  It is truly lovely.  I keep bringing it around the house with me, looking at it every ten minutes or so.  What if he doesn’t like it?  What if it’s not close enough to the classic Claddagh style?  What if it’s the wrong size?  But mostly, I know that he’ll love it because I got it for him.  And if it’s the wrong size, I may be able to arrange a trade with the company.  Things will work out, and he will love it.

I have been eating a lot of corn on the cob lately, as my local grocery store has been having it on sale at four cobs for one dollar.  That is four dinners for one dollar!  (And by dinner, I mean corn to go with dinner.)  There are quite a few people on the internet who are emphatic about microwaving one’s corn cobs.  I have tried their methods, and discovered lo! the corn is so very much tastier microwaved than boiled.  Boiling the corn allows the flavor (and nutrients) of the corn to blanch out into the water around it, but if you microwave it, it cooks in its own delicious juices.  Not to mention that it’s about seventy times easier to husk the corn while it is hot, rather than cold.

So, yes, quite a lot of tasty tasty corn for Addies.

It has been raining and thundering so much lately.  I wonder what the weather is like in southern Utah, on the Green?  I hope Bryan and his family are enjoying themselves and not being rained out or electrocuted?  I am sure they are perfectly fine and having a great time of it.  I just miss them, is all.

A day of Fantastic Contraption 2 and Bubble Tanks Tower Defence has left me with not much news to share, but I’ve truly been wanting to write in here more, so I am here, huzzah!  Also, giving and receiving notes always makes a body feel loved.  Notes!

Tootles!  May you all has a corm.

RYN thanks, red and black are my favorite colors so I felt the theme was appropriate. As a thoroughly random sidenote, I was born in Payson and have spent every birthday growing up fishing in Payson canyon. Hail fellow Utah-en! And of course, cheers for corn! Or corm…

corn is the best grilled. dont husk it, just grill it. and when you’re done then you husk it. ryn: thats a good idea but 1. the most amount of money i have is $20 since i have no job and there is no hope of finding one. 2.she lives 2 hours away.

RYN: Not to sound too freaky or anything, but with one mention of Mary Louise Parker, it’s like you read my mind! I adore that woman ever since I saw her in the West Wing. Yum!

I’ll try the microwave thing!

December 2, 2010

I will have to try microwaving corn. Never did it. Do you wrap it or cover it or just cook it in the husk? How long?
