Contentedness
Call me weird, but I appreciate the emotion contented more than the emotion happy.
I’ve been very contented, lately. Everything is going how it should– housing, school, work, relationship…
Bryan, Bobby, and I asked John to move in with us, in Mark’s stead. He said yes, so we’re back up to four! I also posted a housing wanted ad on Craigslist and have gotten a couple of calls, one of which is looking quite promising. It’s a woman named Krista (Krysta? Crysta?) who will be out of Salt Lake for about a year and wants to rent out her house in the interim. So, yeah, fully furnished… The one issue is that it might be TOO furnished. I definitely need to move my bedroom furniture into the house (my parents want it OUT of their house), so she’ll have to put some of her furniture in storage. Luckily I’m the only one of us four that seems to have that particular issue. Anyway, if it doesn’t work out, there’s still a fair amount of time to find something, and the graduating seniors probably won’t give notice until April, so we haven’t even begun to see the market yet.
School is going well, for the most part. Bryan convinced me to stop freaking out about not getting an A in PChem. It’s a really really hard class, and seems to have a higher percentage of intelligent people than in past years. (The averages on our tests are mid-80s, compared against this proffessor’s usual mid-60s.) With my test scores as they are, it appears as if I’m nabbing a B+ in the course, which is absolutely fine.
I’ve been studying for BioChem all weekend, and I actually kind of like it. The trick to studying a lot is to make studying fun… Basically I’ve been making worksheets for myself in GIMP (computer imaging=something I do for fun) and then cutting out pieces (arts and crafts=good) and reorganizing them on the mats that I’ve made (puzzles=YAY!). It’s not the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s some of the most exciting studying in the world. I’m definitely aiming for that A in BioChem, which I can get, if I keep trying this hard. (I was originally thinking that I’d probably be getting a high B, so it winds up averaging out with PChem anyway; another reason not to stress!)
I talked with Proffessor Truong (my "boss") about how slow I’ve been working for him this semester. It’s really hard to balance a ridiculously difficult class load with a commited relationship with a job with lots of illness (bronchitis and anemia, namely). He’s very understanding, and just wonderful all around. Basically I’m just to take my time, do what I can manage, and put school first. God bless understanding people.
Bryan is fantastic. We went to see Coraline on Saturday. It was also fantastic, though not as fantastic as Bryan. I read the book Coraline about when it was published, and thought that it was absolutely amazing. I was really really pleased with the adaptation for the screen– it was really true to the book, but added a whole bunch of fun stuff. Mostly just being able to see everything take place was awesome! I kind of wish we’d been able to see it in 3D, though I tend to get pretty sick in 3D movies. Oh, well, maybe I’ll get to see Up in 3D. I’m going to see it for my birthday, definitely. The last Pixar movie that came out right around my birthday was Finding Nemo, and that’s my favorite movie of all time ever. As it follows in the same pattern, I’m really excited for Up.
Life is good.
Back to studying. 🙂
Thanks 🙂 is it okay if I add you to my friend? lol 🙂

RYN – After I read your note I went back and looked at your profile … and I am delighted to have crossed paths with you! I’m a math teacher at the community college down the road in Las Vegas, and I have definite background in Utah, having got my BS from BYU in 1968 (don’t jump to any of the obvious conclusions from that – I haven’t been LDS since 1984, and no one who knows me can imagine how Iever could have been …) but anyway I plan to start reading your stuff, and I hope you won’t object if I bookmark you.

Sometimes being content gives more happiness than most give it credit. Coraline did look pretty cool. I’m glad you liked it. Hope life keeps being good to you!
