Property for sale

Mum often throws ideas around about how she wants to spend her last years , we discuss a granny flat .. or a house with a self contained unit .. we talked about it like she was going to live with me .. TOH was happy about that if it happened .. it was one thing I discussed with him .

Mum is 80 come April and is in Raglan.. running a Bed and Breakfast.. alone for the last 4 years. She loves it .. but just lately has been talking about moving into Hamilton to be close to us all, I have 3 sisters in Hamilton. and nephews and nieces etc..

Yesterday Mum rang to ask a simple question about who was going to collect her from the bus stop Saturday Morning, when she said before she hung up , " Oh I am about to go and see the land agent , I’m putting the house on the market"

Ohhhh ahhhh aha .. ok mum

Sheesh … of sound mind and body…she has had enough , the stairs are getting too much for her now and although she was looking forward to another season of guests,(ok the money) the running up and down and making of beds and getting the washing done is all too much.

We chatted about a village that she has been to look at here in Hamilton, 2 bedroom brick homes with garages and dishwashers, all self contained but with a manager and panic buttons. So no lawns and if you want no gardening either and the security of help at the push of the button .. also she wears a security  necklace anyway.

They also have a community hall and she would get in there and do crafts and stuff .. so .. thats what she has her heart set on.

Later in the day she rang again and said its done .. House on the market for $460,000. Govt Value .. not exactly the best time to sell .. but coming into summer I guess.

One of the village homes is $355,000 approx. they are brand new.

Although I will be sad to see her leave that home .. it is too much for her and we all are guilty of not having much time to get out there to see her , this way she is on our way home from work , on our way to visit friends  etc.

anybody want a beach house .. 2 bedrooms upstairs , self contained unit down stairs .. busy Bed and Breakfast all year round.

Double internal access basement garage, ramp to the back door.. HUGE Vegetable garden in shade cloth shelter to keep out the pesky moths.
