It is a little closer to home than I first thought.

A family that I cared for  last year and still stay in touch with are with the fire service.

We have become good friends.

This has rocked them as there were not only men from red watch on that day .. but 2 of the injured are from green watch aswell. My friends watch.

I have been doing what i can to assist them. mainly child care , school pick ups etc.

Mum is visiting the hospital daily to assist the other wives and families of the injured men.

Dad is working .. and then went away for the night to deal with it in a manly way .. he went hunting.  The firefighter Derek Lovell who was killed in the blast was his hunting buddy.

It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about the men and their families.

There is a huge service for Derek planned Friday.

Money donated to westpac and ANZ firefighter trusts will help with the families of the firefighters who will be out of action for months to come.
