Bday soon

Happy New Year! My birthday is on Saturday yay. So I’m having dinner at a restaurant I invited people but I also mentioned that they have to pay there own way. One friend is all lol you’re inviting me but I have to pay? How should I respond? I don’t want to be rude. I did state that if you can’t make it for the dinner come later for cake in the invite thing.

I’m thinking I should say if you can’t make it for dinner come for the cake later, everyone can have cake.
