Redneckin

Boy am I tired today! I’m sure, though, I’m not half as tired as two of my sons. This weekend was Relay for Life and the 17 yr. old was a memeber of the high school team. Once again, there ended up being about three or four young people there the whole time, my 17 year old included. The 16 yr. old was there all night but left in the morning to go to an all day event called Lazarus Fest.

I went to Relay around 11:30 am to help relieve the one’s that were still there. They had people scheduled to walk, but a number of them had cancelled. I ended up staying until nearly 6 pm when it ended. It was a great day for walking. The sky was heavily clouded and the temps only made it up to about 75. I didn’t bother wearing any sunscreen cause the cloud cover was so heavy. Unfortunately, around 2 pm the clouds started to part and I ended up with a burnt face and neck. My arms never did burn. Fortunatey we realized that we were starting to burn and got some sunscreen on so we didn’t burn any worse.

After Relay, we came home long enough for the 17 yr. to shower and went to Lazarus Fest ourselves where he heard the rest of Big Daddy Weave and all of FFH. I took $40.00 with me and ended up spending $20.00 of it, mostly on the grandkids (who’ve stayed with us since Wednesday). I spent about half of it on food, but… They had these things the fit in your mouth like a mouthpiece for football or something and at the front was a round part that had a button on it and three tiny lights in it. The pieces were clear so you can see through them and when you put it in your mouth at night and pushed the button, your mouth would flash these three colors (red, yellow and blue). Of course the 13 yr. old son had to have one and since they were only $2.00, I let him get one…and had him get one for the two grandkids….lol.  When he got back, I discovered that they were actually $3.00. Oh well, a little silliness for $3.00 still isn’t too bad. I think I’m getting soft in my old age!

My poor 17 yr. old only got about 10 minutes sleep in 36 hours and his 16 yr. old brother got just a little more (he fell asleep on the grass at Lazarus Fest, but with all the people and bands going, he didn’t sleep long).

The grandkids go back today. I will be both happy and sad. I love having them around but it seems whenever they’re here, the house is one big mess. (It’s often a mess anyway, but when they’re here and just gets that way faster and stays that way longer).

Oh, I came out of my bathroom the other day while the grandkids were here. It was first thing in the morning and I hadn’t realized that anyone was waiting to get in until I opened the door and saw this…
