Thanksgiving
(This thing won’t let me change the font…argh)
Went to my kids’ grandma’s for Thanksgiving. We all had a nice time…we usually do. There were 22 there. My former brother & sister-in-law have 9 children…7 girls and 2 boys, so they made up half of the group. There were 6 girls born, then a boy, then another girl, then another boy. They range in age from 17 – 1 and there are no multiple births. Amazingly, the kids are all quite well behaved. All there names start with a J, which makes it difficult to remember who’s who. Of course, if you get too stumped, you can just say, ‘um…it starts with a j, right?’
The oldest boy is 4 and BOY did he like having his older cousins around for the day. He used my middle son at home, ‘T’ as a recliner later in the evening.
It snowed Thanksgiving Eve which was a nice treat for everyone. It was our first snow of the season and the cousins live in Georgia, so they haven’t seen snow in years.
As I sat there, trying to keep track of who is who, it suddenly hit me that aside from the last two and the mix of ages and sex, that’s pretty much what it must have been like to everyone else when my 7 were young.
That reminds me of a time I was in Wal-mart looking at those missing children posters. One poster in particular caught my eye. It showed 6 children who were all taken by their non-custodial mother. As I sat there looking at this poster, realizing that all those children belonged to the same woman I thought, ‘wow, that’s a LOT of kids,’ and then it hit me, I had one more than that…lol
So anyway, my thanksgiving went well, as I knew it would. (I didn’t want to go because I couldn’t afford the time, but DID want to go to see family.) Both my surviving daughters were there along with their husbands. My kids’ aunt, who lives in New York, was there along with her youngest daughter. I didn’t over do it this year…or at least not as bad as usual. (c:
Tomorrow I’m supposed to go to my sisters for another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat, but it appears my eldest son at home is going to get whatever it was his younger brother had last week. (Sore throat, fever, etc.)
