The outcome-update
So, we had the meeting on Tuesday night. Me and the staff/parish committee. That was one of the hardest things for me to do. I don’t like having to sit there and expound on my good points or defend the work I have done. Anyway, I got through it, and I am back to being youth and children’s coordinator! They want some parent volunteers to do some of the programs that they "know" the kids want. Yeah, right.
What it boils down to is this-a couple of the spoiled kids didn’t have every last little thing they wanted in youth group, so they told Mommy and Daddy, and the parents thought the whole program needed to be trashed. I’ve never really felt quite so humiliated in my life. So, anyway, the good part is that lots of people surprised me with the fervor of their defense of me, and I have the job.
Now I just need to be allowed to do it and develop a strong relationship with the kids.I know I can do it, if I don’t have to put up with a lot of nonsense along the way.
Update:
Thanks for the lovely replies. Today the youth gave a spaghetti lunch for the senior members of our church, and it was lovely. I enjoyed working with them, and many parents helped. So it was a good thing!
I’m glad you still have the position! Watch, now the parents who decided to complain won’t have time to do Johnny or Karen’s programs they wanted. I think by having the parents defend you that you are developing a strong relationship with the kids because they wouldn’t defend you if their kids didn’t like you! Have a good rest of the week! >^..^<

Sometimes working in the church is one of the hardest jobs. I’ve done it several times and it usually winds up being difficult at best. I’m glad this worked out for you.

That all sounds ridiculous, but I am glad you still have the position and I am glad that most parents defended you!
