Ratbags Rideday
Well no pics first n foremost.
The ride itself? Awesome! I was a bit worried bout the new tyres. Shinko 003 front, which Gary swears by, and a 009 on the rear, I wanted 005, but Mick had none and this was the next one up, last longer. Lasting longer normally means it dont grip as well.
So fuggin wrong. Firstly Mt Lindsay. I hate it on a good day, well I did. Gary carves the living shit outta this road on his bandit to the point where I catch up to him his off his bike lighting a smoke. Not this time. He was only ever 100m in front, I always saw his tailights. I felt confident, I wasn’t worried. I actually enjoyed the road for once.
There wasn’t really anytime when I lost confidence in my tyres or the bike. I did in myself once. Had Lyodd on his VTR-1000 Firestorm behind me and I spent too much time worrying about him being there and went wide on a corner. Got rattled so let him past. Not his fault, was mine. I shoulda just forgot about him and concetrated on my riding.
We had a nice turn out of 6,with three more not able to rock up. Two VTR-1000’s, an R1, Gary’s Bandit 1200, Blasphemy, and a 2001 model GSXR-750. VTR’s sound so damn hot. Mitchell was a bit timid with the R1, the power delivery out of corners had him worried, he’s normally on a Bandit 1200 too. Poor Noel and the Gixxer… a two year old front tyre, that had a nice peak on it. He was lagging behind because he didn’t like the front skipping. Would been with us otherwise.
So lots of twisties. Lots of fun. Felt bloody wonderful.
Nyargh! These entries always make me wish I’d got my bike licence instead of my car licence…But then, rainy days make me glad I did what I did.

YEah – my bike couldn’t keep up with those sorts of machines – especially an R1!!!! I’d love to give that a burl one day… Anyway – I’ll wait til I get my Harley – even then I’ll be doing the speed limit!
