decapitation

Francois has lost his marbles.

He scared himself half to death the other day by getting himself all caught up in a piece of yarn with an aluminum ball attached to it. He couldn’t break free from it so he took off like a bat out of hell instead, string ball and all. I never seen a cat move so damn fast. After a few mini laps around the living room, a scurry through the kitchen ( all I heard was scratch scratch scratch as his claws slipped across the floor) and a dash down the stairs and back up again, he finally broke free, which then sent him into hiding for a good while…which all just sent me into a fit off laughter followed by an "awwww….poor kitty, it’s okay…..awwwww….kitty click sound…" I don’t know how to spell out that clicky sound you make with our tongue. I then aplogized to Francois for laughing at him during such a tramatic event.

I got to thinking…If a baby cat is called a kitten, and an adult cat is called a cat, then an inbetween…or ‘tween’ cat should be called a kit kat.

Something else that got me thinking…This morning when I stopped by 7-11 to get yet another diet wild cherry pepsi, one of the cashiers kept saying the word nickel. She was going on about nickels, and it was really annoying me. I wanted to shout "shut the fuck up, and I will gladly give you a nickel" but then I started to think about nickels. What I came to realize??… Nickel is a really funny word.

I can’t stand the smell of 7-11. Does anybody elses 7-11 smell bad?

My older sisters 30th birthday was last Sunday.

This is how I wrapped some of her gifts. I got a little bit carried away. The creature on the left had several wrapping materials beneath the surface. Im going to try and remember what I used…The gift was a wine bottle topper thing, it was already in a box, so there was that, then I put it in a ziplock bag, then plastic wrap, then aluminum, then a paper towl, then ??, then I taped that up nice and good, then found two plastic party cups, so the wrapped box went into the cups(one cup taped onto of the other), then came the tissue paper stuff, then the yarn, then the cupcake cup hair, then the googly eyes, then the candy corn nose, followed by the tooth pick whiskers, then the drink to go powder stuff arms, then the orange stuff, then the to go cup lid hat, then the bow! He didn’t have legs, so I suppose he got around by rolling. But see the positives in this…its a gift that just kept giving, Think off all the stuff that can be reused. The bearded brown bag creature held tea bags, and I used a bunch of coupons for the tissue paper! I thought that was a clever idea considering my sister has been really enjoying the art of couponing. So many uses. So many!!!! You just have to open up your mind and be one with creativity.

Evelyn from the other day…She stayed home from school with a cold last Friday. Now I don’t know if this was the side effects from the cold medicine or the cold itself affecting her behavior…

Or it could possibly be the effects of me being around the kids too much…

…But here she is with her pretzel fangs. She wanted to suck my blood, or in her words, "I want to suck your ketchup"

Then she ate her fangs. Without ketchup.

See….Every time I want to take a picture, their faces go straight towards the wierd and morbid. Just like the time when they were having a grand o’ time playing in the corn box, pretending they were merely heads…or dead mummy zombies..which is quite redundant!

I like that sort of thing, and perhaps that part of me has rubbed off a little. I have a weird fascination with severed heads. I don’t know why? Its very morbid, I know. Its not as if I wan’t that to happen to me or somebody else, I just …?? I don’t know. Anyway, My favorite movie when I was little was Return To Oz. When I was young I didn’t know the title if the movie, so I would beg my mom over and over to please rent the movie with the heads in it. I LOVED that part, the room with the heads locked in head safes. That movie is still my favorite movie today, and its because itstill has a lot to due with the heads. I also had a favorite ‘scary story’ that told of a girl who wore a ribbon around her neck. She always kept the ribbon tied around her neck, until the day came that she died. Then you find out why the girl was wearing the ribbon all that time. The ribbon was there to keep her head attached to her body. After she died, the ribbon was taken off so her head fell off her body. It was never a ‘scary’ story to me, I enjoyed hearing it.Then there was the story of the headless horseman. I remember my mom telling my sisters and I about, and how there was an old bridge near by where you can see the ghost if you drive under it. I would ask my mom to bring me to the bridge to see if we could encounter the ghost. We never did go to the bridge for the purpose of seeing the headless hosreman. I’m dissapointed!

I came across some old paintings I did. They were rather lame, but what can I do? Actually, I was thinking about going back to them and doing something with them to make them into something better.

Here is one..

Its suppose to be the eyes of the Afghani girl that Steve McCurry photographed. (from National Geographic) I adore Steve McCurry’s work. He has presented the world with really beautiful portraits of people and their culture from around the world. I love portrait photography, not so much the studio posed ones, although many are stunning just the same, but I like to see the subject in its own enviorment. I personally learn more from that. If you havn’t checked out his work, you really should, and while your at it, check out Sabastio Salgado. Slagado is brilliant in my oppinion. His work is in black and white, which is so lovely!

His book, Sahel: The End of the Road is very moving. I want to cry everytime I look through the photographs. Such sad images, but so amazingly honest and beautiful at the same time. The pictures were taken from the time of the famine in the Sahel region of Africa.

…See what I mean??

And this is just 3 images. There are so many more similar images from arround the world by Salgado and others. These photos may have been taken many years ago, but it is still reality all over the world.

And I have to point out how brave and strong someone has to be to document this type

of thing. Or help out/volenteer/aid in areas such as these.  I wouldn’t know how to handle it. I would loose it, which really makes me feel selfish.

Well, I went a little of track with all of that now didn’t I?

Anyway…ummmm…..I guess thats it actually.

… composure is really difficult sometimes, but I think the awareness and the help you are bringing to people helps to combat that, know you’re making a difference type of thing. It’s okay to be emotional, I think it keeps you human while you work, that’s important to never loose! ~~~>
