An update on my writing, and a laid back day

I stopped working at the Science Center on Thursday the 12, so as to avoid having my last day be on Friday the 13th. In the intervening time, I’ve been relaxing, playing tons of video games, keeping an eye on the Steam Summer sale, and hanging out with friends. I’ve even gotten a bit of writing done. I’m about 77% of the way through my primary edits of Silent City. The story is really shaping up and I fixed some plot problems today, but I still have a ways to go to make sure the story makes sense and can be sold to people.

On other writing fronts, I haven’t been participating at eFiction lately, though I should really make more of an effort. It’s fun just to be part of it, if even a small one. I also haven’t updated my blog in ages. I really need to get on that! It’s going to be an invaluable communication tool with I’m away in Hawaii.

The departure date is growing so close! Work is done and I’ve officially booked my hostel for the first week while I look for apartments. I’ve also called BGE to get the electricity out of my name, paid my final months rent, and called Sprint to tell them to cut my service on August 11th, at the end of my first contract year. After that I’m switching to a much cheaper Virgin plan.

So today… what did I do?

Well, yesterday I went to the mall to try to rectify the phone situation, but the Best Buy and Sprint store weren’t helpful at all. I ended up watching Spiderman with Jim (pretty good) and buying a flask for the imminent drinking adventures. I also played a lot of Binding of Isaac.

Today, I tried to avoid playing Binding of Isaac (it’s really gross and I have so many other great games), bought Sins of a Solar Empire, made a new OKCupid profile for Hawaii, and hung out with Scott and Rebekah to buy tickets for Batman tomorrow. After snagging the tickets, we got barbecue at Andy Nelsons and headed back to Scott’s to hang out. Today I found out that Rebekah kind of wanted to go out with me and she thought Seth was trying to coax me into asking her out, but in reality he was just misleading us both and trying to get into her pants.

Also, we let her cat Hammy play with Bender. There was lots of hissing going on. That’s all for today! Until I write again, farewell!
