February cometh
There’s been more unseasonable weather of late, warmer days than there should be. Otherwise, things are generally normal. I’ve working Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, but thinking of picking up and extra day to help pay the bills. In my time off, I read, play Minecraft, and work on an occasional story. No word from grad school yet, of course.
I saw Emily the weekend before – I went to visit her at college park and stayed for a few days. It was kind of weird, being around undergrads again, going to their parties and hanging out in their apartments. Her place was kind of messy, too. No big deal, I guess, but living on my own taught me a lot and changed my perspective on things. Cold basement floors in your apartment? You gotta put carpets down! It’s a quality of life issue.
She was pretty weird while I was staying over, actually, being really distant, ignoring me at the party, and acting cold in bed. I didn’t know how to take it at first, but she told me that she hadn’t been able to get her meds from the pharmacy because it was closed for a few days, so that certainly put a new perspective on things.
We went to a party at her friend Jack’s house, had some drinks and smoked a bit, and it was really surreal. Emily disappeared for a while and I totally thought she was hanging out with other cooler people or something, but then I found her out back, by herself in the cold, sitting around a little camp fire she had started. I guess she just needed some zen time out there alone.
I left on Tuesday after a couple days of ramen with tofu, cashews, and wine, and came back home. Interesting weekend. But now… February is here. I hate this month so much. At least the weather is unseasonably warm.
