New Years, ’11 to ’12

A few weeks ago, I didn’t have definitive plans for New Years Eve, but then Tom informed me about a party at his place in Federal Hill. I don’t know all of Tom’s friends that well and I knew other parties might pop up, but I RSVPed a yes.

With Day, Pocious, Jameson, and those guys, I never quite feel welcomed for some reason. I’ve sort of fallen out with that group of friends and don’t hear from most of them anymore. As for Scott, Jim, and Erick, I had no idea what those guys were doing. Dan my roommate? I assume he just stayed at home alone and drank beers. I invited him to Tom’s, of course, but he declined.

The nice thing about Tom, Danny Adler, and the rest of their crowd, is that their really nice and easy to hang out with. At first, there weren’t too many people at the party that I knew – just Tom, Erick, and Katie, the three roommates. But then Danny showed up and I kind of got to know some of the other guests. There was this cute girl Amy, too, who came with some of Katie’s friends, that everyone wanted to ‘get to know,’ or maybe make out with a midnight, but she ended up leaving after the ball dropped (hopefully not because of the gentlemen at the party).

I was starving when I showed up, but there was an awesome spread of food ham, taco fixins, chips, salsa, hummus, crab dip, veggies… and more. Tom and Erick are really good at throwing these sorts of things. There was also a plentiful supply of beer and liquor.

After getting drunk for a bit, the girls and the braver guys took turns playing Just Dance, this game that’s sort of like DDR but without the pad. I loved it! Definitely have to play it with Rebecca and get high some night.

Eventually, we roamed up to the actual Federal Hill and watched the fireworks over the city. It was awesome, but I couldn’t help but imagine some futuristic war and lasers going off across the city. Oh, imagination, the things you do to me when I should just be enjoying myself.
