A good day
Yesterday was pretty great. I had to work at the Science Center, which is always a bit tiresome, but I managed to pass the time by teaching Valerie a couple of explainers and doing a Van De Graff show.
After work, there was a free dinner hosted for members of the education department. Normally, I might not have gone, but as I was already working until 5, it seems like the logical thing to do. Plus, free food! Kevin, Isha, Patty, and Anne-Marie were there, as well as some people I didn’t know that well (Nikki, Pete, and other managerial type people). We had to do some team building exercises, like acting out certain jobs at the center while in a certain mood and trying to get people to guess what it was. We also had a free dinner of Greek food, which was really good.
I also started trying to watch what I’m eating more carefully yesterday. My beer gut is getting a little larger than I’d like, though I’m still about a 36′ in pants sizes, so I figure I’ll cut back on the drinking and junk food and see if I can trim it down.
I was also pleased because I managed to sneak in time studying kanji while no one was in Dino Hall at the end of the day. I might have done more while I was sitting out with my last explainer cart (no one was in the museum), but Jackie sort of shoe-horned her way into doing an explainer with me.
In the evening, I rented True Grit, but somehow I didn’t find the time to watch it. Instead, I worked on my novel, studied kanji in Anki, and played Minecraft. Overall, a pretty good day.
