An Update on Everything

First off, gotta say that I love the new version of the site….it makes writing entries so much easier.  =)

As for the update, a lot has gone on since my last entry.  As always, I apologize for not updating on a regular basis.  I suppose it’s a combination of not having time and not wanting to update just for the sake of it

Classes are going well….I’ve gotten used to the new workload with the newspaper….It used to be one story a week…whereas now, as one of the more experienced writers on the staff, I’m responsible for two shorter stories a week.  More work, but I love every second of it.

As for my Media Law class, I’m just happy to be in it.  It’s the last class I need before graduation, and it’s notoriously hard to get into.

I got in, but on the first day of class, the instructor DID NOT SHOW UP!  Can you believe that???  So the next day I called the department office, and they said he decided not to teach, so they were left scrambling for a teacher.  Obviously, it was imperative that they find one for me.  Well, they did…and she’s great.  She’s very animated and passionate about the subject.  She loves football and she’s kinda hot too.  =)  I had my first exam in the class yesterday and I feel pretty good about it, so the first hurdle has been cleared.

I also got my degree evaluation back, so my eligibility to graduate this semester is official.  All I have to do is draft a letter requesting the change and deliver it to the office…I’m set!

I had the recent privilige of going back on the radio and doing color commentary for our football team’s defeat of #12 Idaho State.  It was a great time, and my voice held up well, even though I hadn’t been on the air in a year.  I’ve been approached about doing volleyball broadcasts for the station as well, since I’m the paper’s volleyball reporter and know more about it than the other broadcasters.  I’m very excited about that!

Speaking of volleyball, covering them is great as always…they are a talented group of athletes…always very nice to me and the matches are exciting as hell!

In other news, the house has sold, and we should be moving soon.  My niece Lillian is getting bigger and bigger every day.  At work, it’s business as usual.  I’m gearing up for my eventual departure in March and I’m wondering who they decided to hire in the latest batch of student interviews.

The weirdest part of the whole thing is going to be not working with my best friend.  She and I have been partners–watching each other’s backs–for nearly five years.  Not working with her is going to be hard to get used to.

The upside to all this change is, of course, that I get to be with Marci as a result.  I’m going to need a car and a job when I get there…so I’m starting to think about sending out a batch of resumes.  I just don’t want to do it too soon, since I won’t be there to do face-to-face interviews until February.

So, as you can see…some stress is gone, and some remains.  I’m going to do my damndest to update more frequently.  Pray for me!
