Elsewhere

The wedding is two weeks from today.  I’m picking up my dress on Tuesday, hopefully no alternations are necessary.  So many little last minute things now are piling up.  I have to worry about getting my hair done, getting waxed in strategic places, having my nails done… so many things I have to do to look extra pretty, when I think I already look just fine.  I’ve been taken up in all the wedding traditions that everyone else does, and I’m not sure I’m really thrilled with that but it’s too late now.

I’m excited about getting married.  I don’t deny that.  Guy and I have been living together for a while and not much is going to change, but it’s still nice to make this kind of commitment to each other.  But I’m much more excited about going on the honeymoon.  It’s going to be a fun trip and I’m looking forward to sitting on the beach, surfing, swimming, drinking, eating, and nothing else.

Do I feel bad that I’m missing almost two weeks of school right at the beginning of the semester?  Fuck no.

I’m going out tonight with a friend for sushi.  No other real plans for the long weekend.  I used to always go on a vacation for long weekends, but with the wedding so soon that didn’t really make much sense.  I’m a little sad, I guess.  Summer is ending.  Beaches will soon be too cold.  But my mind is elsewhere right now.
