The hyperbolistic Japanese achievement

After posting on Facebook today to agree with my roommate that the day indeed had then-to-fore been "crappy," I was informed by my lackadaisical workstudy that "there [was] a girl on the phone for Brandon!"  I replied "I get that a lot" and expected the phonecall to be some girl who needed help with her wireless.

In fact, it was the program coordinator of JET, and she only needed help answering a question: would I accept being upgraded from alternate to participant?  The answer of course was "of course" and so come August 1 I’ll be on a plane heading to Tokyo, Japan, where I will live for a time period not less than one year and not exceeding five.

The weird thing about having your dreams come true is that it never seems as bombastic as it did in your head when it was all you could think about and all you wanted.  Now it’s relief, sanity, confidence replacing anxiety, confusion, depression.  I’ve accomplished what a year ago I genuinely believed to be impossible, which is not something I’m used to.

You’re right. They do get better. Sometimes I just need to empty my head out onto my diary canvas. Thank you for being supportive of my emotional throw-ups! omgareyouexcited?!
