i like to look at the wireless networks
that people have stored on their computers
postcards from places they’ve been

reminders they’ve got but don’t realize
when they ask me to set up something or another
that i’ve got too

some are just
linksys (from nobody configuring the router)
belkin (the same)
but others put my mind working
pineapple (fruit fans maybe?)
canadiana56 (from up north?)
fuckshack (not kidding)

surely this young woman
tall heels and no stockings
houndstooth skirt
has been on a journey across the country
from
student (our network)
to
CappysPub
to
HolidayInn
to
fuckshack, perhaps

not that it’s much of a stretch
her postcards are just sitting there
she might as well
leave the bedroom door open

i thumb through them idly,
looking for whatever it is
she didn’t know she was carrying around
with her
