Stroganoff and turbines

I made Stroganoff today, which was kind of cheating considering I used a pouch of Stroganoff mix, but I did cut up all the meat and onions myself and even threw in some mushrooms and had it on rice. Surely there is some sort of intangible reward I might claim for my motivation: I’d have made it real-ass dope style but didn’t have the ingredients. At any rate it was delicious and all that’s keeping me going through work here this evening is the thought of the leftovers hanging out getting awesome in the fridge.

Apparently the “application received” notifications are going out to those fresh young hopefuls (like myself) who are trying to get over to Japan with the JET program. It’s barely a milestone in this horrifying and storied process, but any news is good news, and this is the first news you get. The envelope also contains a number that you use to match up with a list they put out at the end of the month–this tells you in a very Japanesey way if you got an interview or not, without directly hurting your feelings! I am set up for total failure, but oh so hopeful for some magic.

On account of the fact that I rarely work Friday and never on weekends, and being that this coming Monday is a holiday, there’s a good chance that after ten this evening I’m done for four-and-a-half days, more or less. I anticipate filling this time with being awesome, doing cool stuff, rocking, and chomping on food.

Oh! I wanted to inform you all that I have a story coming out in this new journal called Pear Noir! It is a story about a little girl named Tiphereth. For the honor of getting it published, I am receiving in the form of payment one (1) copy of the journal in which said story has received print. Evidently it’s based out of this area, which is cool. It will be nice one day to have published something in a Pittsburgh journal. I think you can go to their website by typing Pear Noir into the Google. Anyway, the proofs are confirmed and off to the printers as of a couple of weeks ago, and I should be getting my copy soon. Once I have it maybe I’ll put the story online! Maybe not. Maybe next I’ll try to write fan-fiction about Breakin’ 2 where Bozo and Turbine need to team up in their own special way.

I usually start writing with good intentions thinking I’ll say something really important today in my journal but the big issues are always the ones I just end up writing poems about. Forgive me, Brandon of the ancient future–hopefully you’ve figured them out by now.

Well, first of all I say bravo on the cooking! I can’t deal with raw onions – my eyes are that pathetic. So yay you! I hope you get an interview. I’ll check up on you on that. Quite a triumphant entry! Onions and published lit! I’m very impressed! ^^ <3
