Blake Henry James is here!

Things have been a little busy and my heart and head have been thinking and feeling in a different direction the last few days so I haven’t made an entry. However, it’s been a good busy and a good direction.

Great grandson Blake Henry James made his entry into this world at 05:19 pm Thursday evening. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces (the same as his big brother) and is 20 inches tall (1 inch shorter than Eli). I haven’t seen him in person yet but from pictures he looks like Eli’s twin. I will go over to visit Wednesday. Eli is here in town with his uncle Zach and they are supposed to come visit today or tomorrow. I can hardly wait!

I tried my best to stay home from church Sunday because I was just “out of sorts”. I turned on the TV because I recently discovered the show Jewish Jesus and wanted to watch it. One of my good friends is Jewish and grew up in Jerusalem. She has converted to Christianity now but listening to her has piqued my curiosity about the Jewish people and Jewish Messianic religion. The show features a Messianic Rabbi and is interesting. Anyway, I watched that show and then Ron Carpenter. During his show I was very strongly told “You ARE going to church!” so I got ready and went. Our Pastor continued in the same vein that Ron Carpenter had been preaching and convinced me to go though the door that God had opened for me.

After re-retiring I have been considering what my mission was going to be now. I recently considered volunteering to help at another Methodist Church Day Care Center. I knew and liked the teacher and loved listening to the kids playing each day. It is just across the street and a little west of where we live. After listening to the messages of Ron Carpenter and Pastor PJ I decided to ask if she needed the help of a volunteer. I contacted her this morning and she was overjoyed! She said she is desperate for help at the Day Care. I will start volunteering there next week. I’m anxious to get started!

On a sad note, our Sunday School teacher was absent Sunday. She lost her father 3 weeks ago and her mother Friday. I can’t imagine her pain. The only solace is that they are now together once again. Her mother has been failing for some time with dementia but her father was doing well until he fell and broke a hip. Then pneumonia took him.

I don’t want to end on a sad note so will end on a happy note – I just found out that if my computer shuts down prematurally or I mess up and accidently close the window before saving, this version of OD saves your entry!!! WooHoo!! I can’t tell you how many entries I lost on the old OD because it didn’t have this option. I didn’t like writing my entries anywhere else then having to copy and paste. Thank you, Diarymaster!!
