Kneesy Does It

It’s that time of the year again when I pull on my trainers and get practising for my annual running event – the local pub fun run. I started my training a week earlier than usual this year and things were going well. It helps a lot that I’ve continued to lose weight over the last twelve months. I’d built myself up to running distances of 4 miles with a mile pace of around 8:25. The last time I got out was Tuesday last week and it felt fine. Unfortunately, the following day my right knee was painfully sore. Damnit and buggeration. It wasn’t just a twinge or an ache, but a proper running injury that was sore around the back of the knee. How very annoying. So I’ve decided not to risk running again until the big day (which is this Sunday) and then just try it out there. It still aches a bit but I’ve got 4 full days of recovery time. It would probably help it even more if I’d stopped cycling as well, but I can’t. I really can’t.

You can’t stop? What kind of cycling distances are you covering?
