For Someone

For someone perhaps gone who will return or waiting in the wings, for someone who will play my heart like strings.  For someone with raven hair or blonde or red, for someone with blue eyes or green or brown instead.  For someone tall or short, rich or poor.  For someone who will love me like a mirror.  For someone yet unnamed.

Don’t cry, dear,

We will always be the greatest of friends,

I will hold you til your lips turn scarlet,

Til the world does not care if your heart mends.

You can break and I will sweep you up,

Gather everything so that you may remain,

But I won’t ask you to put yourself together again.

I will play soft music and lay beside you,

And I will let you hide.

You will reveal yourself in time.

I will listen, I will not ask,

I will do your every task.

And when we kiss I will not break away for breath or death,

I will kiss you until there’s nothing left,

I will pass myself into you and trust to find that when I open my eyes they will be filled with you.

I will cry for you and I and every moment that passes by,

And I will make you smile.

I will say the things you long to hear and I will make them true,

I’ll help you do the things you want to do,

And I will give up my dreams and my career,

And come to you and give you all my years,

I will sacrifice for you.  You will not ask me to.  But it is what I will do.

For I am ready for your love.

I was born ready for this depth.

I have been plumbed by lesser Gods and they took til they thought there was nothing left.

They took the things, but they did not see

That it was the great expanse of space they plumbed in that was for you,

They were clearing out a den for you to place your heart and rest.

It hurt but I know the worth of it,

And these words may be simple, I think them sweet,

I do not wish but to speak plain and true.

I love you.

she will be one lucky woman.

I keep coming back and reading this. There’s spots the rhythm really has momentum. <3

That really was sweet. Sacrificing, not being asked to; for that would be terribly hard to ask of someone. That was the most poignant line for me…
