student loan happiness!!!

ok, so i’m really excited about something i’ve just learned and i thought i’d pass along the info.

Apparently, when you sign up for income-based payments on your student loans, when you pay for 25 years, no matter what you still owe.. your loans are forgiven at that point!!

what this means??

That i won’t end up with $400/month loan payments.. and I won’t be paying until i’m 104 years old, as i had originally planned.. =)

ok that made my night…

(and yes, i have enough student loan debt, to be happy that it’ll be forgiven after paying on it for 25 years.. hey that’s what 6 years at a private university will get you.. .. bachelors + masters + LOADS of Loans!)

I FEEL you. Between myself and hubby, we’re in for more than 175 grand. …And he’s not done with school. Gak! Do you know if Sallie Mae offers this??

Yep. Jordan signed up for this and they shredded his paperwork because he hadn’t done something else. They’re hard to figure out, Department of Education, so good luck!

Been there done the loan thing… over $100,000 worth at a private university! But mine will be paid off before 25 years is up.
