tragedy at work. **fixed link**
As anyone in the area probably has already heard, my agency, the one that runs my school and employs me, had a horrific tragedy last night. Two teenagers that were living in a group home in Lockport, only a couple minutes from my school/campus, murdered their child care worker last night.
this is the news story.
As scary as this is, no i’m not afraid to go to work. i am NEVER alone with kids. There is always about 50 other staff in the building who are there to help at a moments seconds notice.
No, i did not know the girl that was killed and I didn’t know the two kids that did it. A third kid, that i had in class last year and in school this year, was with them in the "get away" but has been exonerated by the authorities in the crimes.
As we should be, our agency is now getting a TON of horrible media. But I don’t see how our agency can be blamed for this. No one can know that teenagers (actually students at Lockport High School) are going to lash out and KILL a woman that they saw and who cared for them daily. She had worked at the home for 2 years. It is just awful. I don’t even know what to say, or what to think. A couple of our kids spent time at avenue house and are now at Wyndham Lawn. They knew both the victim and the perpetrators. Were friends with the killers and had a genuine bond with the vicitm.. they are really upset and horrified and trying to make sense from the senseless. These are not bad kids. I’m sorry but for all the rotten kids that would commit a murder such as this one.. there are 500 other troubled teens that need help turning their lives around. I hate that some are saying that these are kids that don’t need us. They do.
i’m sorry that was all so incoherent, but i’m trying to make too many points at once.. so if you got through that.. thanks.
Oh my God. What is WRONG with people?????? :'(
