Enough is enough
As the title suggest, enough is enough. This has definitely been a year for racism/bigotry in our country and for the most part, here in the south. I thought the year was going to end on a quiet note but I guess I was wrong.
Everyone and I do mean everyone is racist to a degree no matter how much we beg to differ and when you stop and really think about it we all are. Some people show their racist beliefs/opinions openly and proudly it seems and then there are those of us that try to better ourselves as well as that of our fellow man and promote unity and equality.
The race card is now being played by the biggest racist of them all, well next to Al Sharpton that is, the irreverand Rev. Jesse Jackson, a so called man of the cloth. As we all have heard by now, Phil Robertson was interviewed by GQ magazine and was asked his thoughts on homosexuality and the races. The answers given were of Robertsons own beliefs with reffernces to scriptures. Mr. Robertson went on to say that although he doesn’t believe in certain practices like homosexuality and mingling of races, that he doesn’t hold that against anyone that might take part in those practices.
As we all know by now, gay groups were and still are all up in arms over the GQ interview but just when things seem to start calming back down, Mega-Racist Jesse Jackson has to start in with the race card by comparing Robertson to the Rosa Parks bus driver buttttt in Jacksons defense, he did say that the bus driver was just obeying the law in the case of Rosa Parks.
We can’t forget the whole Martin/Zimmerman case from earlier in the year and that our own President got involved showing his own racism by having the Feds go after Zimmerman on civil charges after Zimmerman was found not guilty in criminal court.
It just goes to show that no matter the social status, race, or even region we may be in, racism/bigotry is still alive and well. The real question is why does it have to be??? We are not in the 50’s & 60’s any longer and times have changed and we even have a black man for President.
Are things ever going to change and everyone can live as equals??? Is 2014 going to be the year that unity becomes a reality and no longer just a pipe dream??? We’ve came a long ways since the 50’s but still have further to go sad to say but where there’s a will there is a way.
Maybe one day soon we will all find unity and a peace like no other. A day when the Klan and all the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons will be nothing more than a distant and bad memory for everyone.
I leave you with a final thought…a quote by Rodney King…”Can’t we all just get along???”
Unfortunately, Rodney is dead because he couldn’t even get along with himself and was so drunk that he drowned… 🙁 Want me to play devil’s advocate and remind you that Obama is only half black, but both sides of the races wars seem to forget that? 😛 Personally, I just hate him for his ****ty policies that have dragged our country so far down we may never get out, regardless of his parentage.
