Missing you *EDIT*
I miss OD. I just never feel like I have things to write about that anyone would want to read.
Tell me what to write…or ask me something. Help me get this ball rolling!
*Edit*
I’m going to edit this as I go along I guess..
the move?
Was honestly the best decision I’ve ever made! I know a lot of people make fun of Texas, but I love it here. It is hotter than hell (over 100 for 40 something straight days now), but I love the trade off of wearing flip flops in the winter. I love the wide open spaces of land. I love how friendly & polite most people are. I love that Texans never let you forget where you are or that they are from Texas. I love Austin’s quirks. The musics. The shops. The restaurants. Zilker park. Lake Travis & Ladybird Lake. I just love it here. My current job leaves a lot to be desired, & I do miss a lot of people in Ohio/PA, but I can’t remember a time in my life when I was this happy with a major decision.
who ya dating?
Emmett! He moved down here too & we live together now – very, very happily. We have even gone ring shopping!
what are you up to?
Working too much, making jewelry, baking, learning the land & trying to take in as much as I can. This state is HUGE, I’ve been here a year & haven’t even made a scratch in the surface of all there is to see & do. I think I need a Texas tour guide! My sister was great for that while she was here but she is back in Hawaii.
are you in school?
Not yet…hoping to be soon.
are you doing well
Very….I’ve lost 25 pounds since I moved here & am so much happier. It’s amazing what the 6 months of crap Ohio weather every year will do to a person.
***More answers**
A week later, I know…but I’ve had the flu & have been stuck at work late for the last 10 days or so.
What have been the highlights of the past year?
The 2 months I got to spend with my sister & nieces were the absolute highlights! For those that don’t know, my sister was in the military from 2001-2006 & is now married to an Army guy, so we haven’t been able to see each other for much more than a week or two at a time in all of those years. It was always so sad to me because I always felt that my nieces didn’t really know me. That changed so much over the course of those 2 months & seriously, those were 2 of the best months of my life and it made the move so much easier to have my sister here to help me figure my way around. My favorite part of all of this is that Layla is the ultimate mini-me!! How funny is that? She looks like my mom but she is just like me – sarcastic, smart & she knows it, very into jewelry, make-up & being girly but at the same time loves to run around, play sports & be one of the boys. And her sweet tooth is even worse than mine. I love it when my sister yells at me & asks how she got stuck raising me!
What have been the challenges?
The challenges, well, there was finding a job. I found one in 3 weeks but hated it more than I could even explain. I wound up calling in & quitting (as of the next day) because the company I’m at now offered me a job at my interview & also let me start the next day. Now, I’m not crazy about this job either, but it is so much better than the first. I did meet some amazing people at the first place though, and I’m so grateful for that at least.
The other challenge was getting Emmett down here, but he is here & gave up his job & most of his possessions to get here so really, I can’t complain about that. There was also another issue with Emmett, but it’s worked out now & really not worth getting into. And of course I miss so many of my Ohio/PA friends, but I’ll see them again when I visit or they come to visit me.
the move? who ya dating? what are you up to? are you in school? are you doing well? ummmm and the list goes on…..

Yay! Your alive, I was beginning to wonder. I live 4 hours from Austin, and I love Texas too. Austin is gorgeous. You must visit the Guadalupe river, now that’s the most beautiful part of the Austin/San Antonio area. And please keep writing.

I am so happy to read about your life! I can’t believe you’ve been there for a year already. Crazy! I miss you, my dear. And I’m always happy to read whatever it is you put down, for the record. Thrilled, in fact. It’s crazy to think how much your life has changed in the years I’ve been reading about it. What have been the highlights of the past year? What have been the challenges?

Thank you for your note. My dad lived in Texas for a short time, he freaking loved it. Cheap livin’, no winter, nice people, what more could you ask for? I’ve thought about it, even if just for the nice people.
