I am a rock.  I am an Island.

I’m traveling again to the NE for a capstone event for the Mentor Skills program.  A quick trip – fly all day, next day 8am-9pm event and fly home the next, which is Jeff’s b-day.

I keep mentioning what a pain having a teenager is.  This coming of age thing in this day and age is much harder than it was when I was a teenager.  And contrary to popular teenage belief, I DO remember being a teenager.  They’re getting mobile.  Their friends are introducing new and interesting concepts.  I’ve read here long enough to know the perils out there.  I’ve lived through a few of my own.

I have my own relatives in the worst of the worst and stuck in the cycle.  I have close friends who’s teenagers in the course of their own stupidity have gotten themselves entangled in ‘the system’.  I honestly believe engaging ‘the system’ is the last recourse.  It is certainly one of the most expensive options.

more later.. have to run to a meeting.  joy.

I so dread the teen years. Already, at the tender age of 7, Kendra knows entirely too much. And, at 10, Alex is much wiser about the world than I was at that age. Kids are growing up too quickly now. Hormones and boobs and facial hair and peer pressure and acne … Shoot me now! 🙂 Hope you’re well. Added you to MSN last night, but you were ‘away’. Perhaps this weekend?

Sounds like you’ll be tired for Jeff’s B’day. Have a good trip 🙂
