Professor Putz

So, I’m not very happy with my senior project professor.  I just checked my grades and I got a B in the class.  I was really trying to get all A’s this quarter and I got an A in two out of three of my classes.  And do you know what?  Out of all of my classes, I think I deserve to get an A in senior!  I didn’t try in my world religions class and I know my papers weren’t as good as they could have been in my nonfiction writing class.  But, I really tried in my senior project class!  Oh, the irony.  I worked consistently on my project.  Plus, my professor never helped me.  I’m doing 2D and he’s more of a 3D guy.  Actually, he’s more of a rigger than an actual animator.  So, naturally, he helped all the 3D kids and left me and Haley to ourselves.  Frequently, he would have a sign up sheet for students who needed help and frequently, when I would sign it, I’d be second or third on the list.  Our classes are two and a half hours.  He would either show up with only thirty minutes left in class or he wouldn’t show up at all.  Out of the ten weeks in the quarter, he saw me approximately three times, each time for only a few minutes.

My last senior project class was on Thursday.  I wanted to speak to him on the Tuesday before so he could look at my stuff and make some suggestions so I could work on those suggestions Tuesday and Wednesday so that everything would look as good as it could on Thursday.  I signed up and he never showed up.  He e-mailed me that night to say he was sorry for not getting around to me but that he was giving extra time to a girl he had been ignoring for the past three days.  What?  So, I e-mailed him back with some of my animation and asked him to give me a critique.  He never e-mailed me back.  So, I just worked on stuff until I was satisfied ‘cause he didn’t bother to tell me what he thought was working and what wasn’t.

Thursday comes around and he saw what I had and acted like he liked it.

Plus, not to brag, but I had more animation done than anyone else in the class.  I understand that it’s more about quality than quantity but I think I had quality quantity!

Besides, he didn’t help me!  He never came around on his own and especially never came around when I’d ask for his help.  So, considering the fact that I did the entire animation all on my own without anyone’s help, I think it looks pretty darn good and I think I deserve an A.

During the 5 week checkpoint, I got a B+.  I had all of my key frames done and all of my rough backgrounds drawn.  Haley had nothing.  She had a handful of backgrounds that she got someone else to do for her and she had a character doing a turn.  That’s all.  She also got a B+.

During the final, Haley once again had nothing.  She had wind blowing through a character’s hair.  She had more backgrounds that wasn’t even hers.  She probably got an A+.

That guy is definitely whack and I’m not happy with my grade.  I know my animation might not be spectacular but, like I said, I had no help and plus I had more done than anyone.  I’ve made mucho progress but apparently he doesn’t see that.  At least I got an A in my other classes.  I was also worried about my nonfiction class but I did surprisingly well.  I even did the best on my last essay, which I thought was the worst.  I guess I just can’t ever tell with these professors.

I’ll post some of my essays later after I’ve edited them based on the professor’s suggestions.
