I am just so thrilled with today!!
This morning Ryan and I had our first ultrasound appointment. I was really nervous about it…worried about what they would (or more accurately, wouldn’t) see and worried about what the actual process would be like. On tv they always show women getting the ultrasound with a wand on their belly, but that is not at all what happens in reality at the first ultrasound, which is "trans-vaginal." I just wasn’t sure what to expect. =)
Luckily, we got there and all went well. The ultrasound technician was a very sweet, friendly older woman who made us feel very comfortable, and the "wand" was not a very large instrument. As soon as she started, our baby popped right up on the screen! We were so surprised, because neither of us expected it to look so much like an actual baby yet…usually when I see friends’ early ultrasound pictures, they look more like a little bean, but our little bean already has arms and legs and was bouncing around in there! We could see the fluttering of the heart and all of the measurements were right on track. It was such a joyful moment and made the whole experience so much more "real." There is really a baby in there making me feel awful everyday…it makes the awful nausea much easier to deal with having seen the cause! The technician printed two pictures for us, a side shot, and a "face-front" shot. We can see where the eye-sockets are forming! It’s totally crazy, and I can’t wait to show them to our family. I showed them to my two co-workers who know today (who have both had babies recently) and even they were surprised at how "baby-like" they looked. I’m so happy!!
Yay…thats so great. Congrats to you guys. 🙂

So where are the ultrasound pictures??? Are you guys going to find out the sex of the baby beforehand? My mom is really against that. I’ll either have to not learn the sec of my kids beforehand, or do it and keep it a secret to my mom. LOL! RYN: Lol! yea. We made the green bean casserole for the first time a thanksgiving. It was so good and inexpensive that i decided to make it for my work Christmas party on Saturday.
