“the one” (*with pictures!)

I just got off the phone from ordering my wedding dress!  =)

My mom and a good friend from grad. school (Diane) went with me last Wednesday to try on dresses for the first time.  I wasn’t really looking forward to it, but it turned out to be more fun than I thought it would be. Diane was the perfect person to bring along, because she is very girly and has been in a ton of weddings (including her own). As she predicted, the ones I ended up loving were the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted.  I had sworn that I didn’t want a strapless dress, or a train, or a veil.  Of course, I wound up with all three. =)  On Thursday, Diane and I went to David’s Bridal because they were having a big sale.  Originally, we were just going to see what looked good, because my friend Jen was supposed to make my dress (she is a seamstress).  However, I had decided on Wednesday that if we could find something reasonable, I wanted to let her off the hook, because she is now pregnant and due in August!  Diane and I found two dresses we really liked at DB, so my mom and Jen came with me on Tuesday of this week to see them.

I had also agreed that along with those two dresses I would try on a few others (at least two that my mom chose and two that Jen chose). =)  Well, my mom chose the winning dress.  I wasn’t blown away at first, but the more I looked at myself in it, the more "bridal" I felt.  The store doesn’t carry it in ivory, but I am ordering it in ivory, and I think that will be the clincher.  The more I think about it, the more excited I am!  Who knew I could be so silly?!

Next week I am meeting with a photographer…hopefully after next Friday I will be able to check that off the list as well.

(No job news yet, but I am trying not to lose hope!)
