Eating Well

I am enjoying reading "YOU on a Diet."  I have reviewed the recipes and think this is better then all of they diets and recipes that are "substituting" items to try to make your favorite dishes.

When I am cooking, I do not like using, tofu, soy milk or artificial sweetners.   I don’t want to replace a natural food ingredient for a man made chemical that is suppose to taste like the real thing.  I am tired of people telling me that healthier eating is by using fake meat and splenda.

When I have lost weight and was at my healthiest, I simply used lean meats, naturally lean cheeses and vegetable and olive oils.  I found meals that tasted good and were healthier.  I just don’t want to make a pseudo concoction of a favorite that tastes like donkey shit.

I will eat a veggieburger!!!  I will not eat a meat flavored veggie burger.  I love replacing meat in a hamburger with a portobello mushroom!

I love turkey meat!  If I use beef hamburger I will pay more for the leaner meat.

I have been looking up recipes and saw "hungry Girl".  I was NOT impressed with all the substitutes and trying to recreate fatty meals into something lean with crap.

There is good recipe substituting and there is the horribly WRONG way of substituting items.

I want good lean food that doesn’t give me a gag reaction when eating.

Once you get used to the foods he recommends dumping from your diet – enriched flour, HFCS, etc. – utilizing the healthier things like true whole grains, and looking at grams of sugar and saturated fats in everything revamping shopping lists and recipes on your own becomes second nature. Seriously. I LOVE that he doesn’t recommend pre-packaged “diet” foods since most of those are ridiculouslyunhealthy when you start really looking at what’s in them! Dr. Oz is my HERO!!!
