I know he loves me…

 because we fall asleep on the phone at night.  And if he falls asleep first and I hang up, if he wakes up within the hour, or any time really, he calls me back and says "You disappeared on me."  Then I tell him he fell asleep so I said goodnight and when he didn’t respond I knew he had fallen asleep but it’s okay because he has early morning classes so I know he gets tired earlier than I might.  So he says goodnight in a soft, sleepy voice and I have to say it back or he won’t hang up and go back to sleep like he needs to.

That’s how I know he loves me.
