A long time coming.

My friends are having their power shut off today. Now, before you say: "That sucks," or any such thing let me explain one thing–they deserve having their power shut off. They had their gas turned off many months ago due to multi-month failure to pay resulting in a six hundred dollar bill. Now they haven’t paid their electric bill in many months either and have over a thousand dollar bill! Now, why haven’t they paid their bills? Firstly a lack of general employment between the five of them. Now three of them have jobs and it was more than enough to cover the bills considering they had food stamps so they didn’t have to buy food.

But what did they do? (A) They didn’t send in all the information they were supposed to in a timely fashion for the EBT information and they had their benefits cut. (B) They used their money on beer, drugs, and fast food and thereby not having enough money to cover bills. (C) They owed the internet bill about three hundred dollars in order for it to get turned back on. And, get this they paid that instead of paying anything on the electric bill. Two of the three that had jobs haven’t been working for over a week anyway. One lost his job because he made one of the other people help him do his job at work and he got caught, the other one I’m not sure why he’s not working.

One of them is currently in New York chasing tail and probably spending what little bit of money he had for the electric bill on that excursion. And, and, they want ME to take care of it somehow. Nope, not going to do it. They can sit in the dark and starve without the ability to take a hot shower. I love them, but they’re irresponsible druggies who kind of deserve this. They did it to themselves and they’ve no one to blame but themselves but they’ll blame everyone else to try and make them feel better. But…oh well. I tried many times to help them, but they don’t want it and they won’t get it any more. End of story.

You’re doing the right thing. They need a “wake up” call. I am sorry that they put you in that position. It’s hard to tell a friend no in any circumstance. Best Wishes. 🙂

Wow…that’s just ridiculous. how could they let it get so far behind. ugh. i’m glad you’re taking a stand and not letting them walk all over you or guilt you into paying for their issues. you’d hope it’d teach them a lesson, however, most of the time, it just doesn’t. ~♥~

I’m one of the few that have found a well educated and understanding pastor. I agree, Satan should reward people, as you suggest. However, having personal experience with paranormal activity, I also believe in the afterlife as a ghost here on Earth, which is completely against any Christian beliefs. I know it wasn’t just my imagination because others knew of it. It still confuses me.

Besides, it’s not like you really can spare a thousand bucks to haul their rears out of the fire. RYN: I guess what it is is that I had already taken for granted that you needed to do that from the start.

yeah.. thats a good lesson to learn… honestly. I.. am pretty irresponsible in the paying bills area.. I’m not sure why I do that to myself. So far I’ve only ever had to worry about rent and food, internet, cell phone, credit card.. not utilities.. I’ve not ever had mine shut off.. *sigh* Yeah.. your friends need that. *nods*
