Bird Watching for an OD Friend*********EDIT

Light But Hearty is one of my OD Favorites and she’s posted a photo of a small red-breasted (and topped) bird with white markings on its wings. At first glance I thought it was one of our Rosy House Finches, but after looking in my book, I decided it wasn’t. What do you think?

I managed to get another three trees in the ground before noon today, but hit solid rock on the fourth and final hole. So, as before, we filled it with water and allowed it to soak through. DH decided it was such a nice day (although the wind had a bite to it) he would stay out in the bit of sunshine at the front edge of his garage. This way he’s in the sun, which is warm, and out of the breeze, which is cold. Such a deal.

And speaking of birds, DH read in this morning’s newspaper that the Turkey Vultures have started to arrive. Every year they migrate and Tehachapi is one of their resting places. I’m sitting here right now, watching two of them soar in circles over our house. There’s a cloud bank rolling in and I think our temperature has dropped a few degrees.

No Turkey Buzzards in this photo, but you can sure see the green of the hills and valley, and that bank of cold coming in from the west. Brrrr. I think I’ll let that fourth hole sit until tomorrow morning!
