Done and delivered
I finished the Brown Strip Quilt and because the woman has no transportation, DH and I delivered it to her yesterday. I received an e-mail from her today, thanking me and saying how much she loves her new quilt.
I would have begun working on my sister’s quilt next but a special request came through from our youngest grandson, who happens to be 7 years old TODAY! He and his older brother, his dad and his Aunt J came to visit this past weekend. Everyone was off doing other things on Saturday evening except for the younger grandson and me who were left at home alone. I was sitting at the dining room table, hand sewing the binding to the quilt shown above when he very quietly moved to stand next to me. Without meeting my eyes, he quietly said, "Since you like to sew…" and he paused and I said, "Yes?" He then said, "You could make me a new B." His "B" is a fragmented, collection of shredded crocheted baby blanket that has been literally loved to within an inch of its life. I told him, Sure, I can do that. I proceeded to take him into my laundry room where I have a cabinet with all of my fabrics. I pulled out some nice train fabrics, but he quietly said, "I want you to use string or yarn." Well, the only yarn I have on hand is a small bit of pink, to which he kind of shuddered, and I told him that we could go to the store in the morning and he could pick out a nice yarn for me to use. He stated that he liked green — and showed my his little ball of fluff and said it was mostly green — well, it was actually a kind of mottled gray-blue, but I didn’t correct him. So in the morning, the first task of the day was to go buy yarn for his new B. We picked out a very soft baby yarn in a light blue and I bought two skeins. I’m half-way through the second skein and wil finish the B today and hope to get it in the mail to him tomorrow morning. I would have liked to have had it finished for his birthday today, but I’ve had other obligations.
That’s all the news I have for now … be safe, be well, and please be happy. I haven’t done too good with being well — everyone who visited this past weekend was sneezing and I took them seriously! I’ve lost my voice but hope to find it eventually… it’s just a respiratory thing, but I haven’t had one of these for absolute ages. I was shocked to find my throat sore and my voice history when I woke yesterday morning. But this too shall pass.
Blessings to all… for I surely am blessed having all of you here, waiting for me to return, time and again.
I hope your voice returns quickly. That’s a MISERABLE THING.

I love that quilt up there. I admire quilters. I can’t think of a better gift to receive than a quilt that was made especially for me. Quilts hold precious memories.

Love the quilt!! I’ve been saving strips of all lengths and sizes so I can do one some of these days. Doubt that mine will end up near as awesome as yours but you’ve certainly inspired me to rank it a little higher on my “to do quilts”. Ahhh I bet that 7 year old will be so excited and happy when he gets the new B. How sweet that he knew you were an answer to a vanishing B. God Bless
