When it Snows, IT SNOWS!–EDIT
Yesterday evening was Bunco night. It began to snow as I left the house at 6:40 p.m., and even though we cut the game time short, there was a good 6" of snow on the ground by 8:00 p.m. when we were saying our goodbyes. I could go on and on about how my car got stuck going up the hill, getting hit on the front by a friend’s truck that slid down the hill backwards and connected with the front end of my car, or even how I called AAA Roadside Service and discovered that not having snow chains on my tires voided their rules of service, and how a dear friend came out in the blizzard conditions with his four-wheel-drive truck and took my cold, wet and shaky butt home, but suffice it to say, no one was hurt and it all ended well. Three vehicles were left alongside the road and mine was the last one to get removed.
The snow quit eventually. We recovered my car this afternoon right at 4:45 p.m., just before the sun started going down. The street was icy in places and I had to roll my car back down the hill a bit to get it out of the chunk of snow and ice it had become mired in, but eventually I was able to gain traction and make my way up the hill and out onto the main road. There was a HUGE pile of snow on the hood and it kept flying off, bit by bit.
Here’s some pictures–people have been saying that Tehachapi hasn’t seen this amount of snow for years. That’s nice to know. 😉 And it’s nice to have good friends. (and VERY nice to have a place in Arizona that you can hibernate in NEXT winter!)
Taken from the back deck — you can see the haze of snowfall in the air. There was a broken rail on the tracks last night — we listened as the Track Inspector called back and forth to the Dispatcher. The break was east of the Loop, around Marcel, and in a cut so they had to halt all trains until it could be repaired. Meanwhile, traffic on Hwy. 58 and I-5 were both shut down. Nothing was moving… it was dead silent.
And in the front of the house, here’s a picture of the front porch, taken from inside the house. (yeah, I’m a wimp! I wasn’t about to walk out in 3+" deep snow! It was DEEP!
Be safe, be well and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them. Blessings to all…
Looks like my world. (Pictures on my entry) I’m sure glad you eventually made it home safely!! Scary stuff!
