Phone calls to no one

If you have a phone, you’re on their list, and you no doubt receive calls that begin with "Hello, this is Ann from Credit Card Services." or "This is an important call. Please don’t hang up." Arrrgh. If you don’t answer, they don’t leave a message–they don’t need to as they’ve already made their money just by having your phone connect to theirs.

I received a phone call this morning from 404-498-9980. No message was left and I thought it might be a telemarketer, but wanted to stop them from calling, so I texted back, "STOP." A message was returned that said the phone number was invalid. What??? How can this be? They just rang me from that number! The whole set-up in how this is done to millions of people each and every day is more than I can write in this one entry. Suffice it to say that the perpetrators work outside the FTC, and they’re making money whether anyone answers the phone or not.

Ever wondered why the "Do Not Call" list doesn’t work?? Read this blog and find out. What an eyeopener this is to a very frustrating part of life.

Argggggggggggg……..

I’ve received a couple text messages at 2am(!) saying I’ve ‘won’ a $1000 gift card from Best Buy. Yeah, it’s a scam and I don’t reply, but even though I’m on the ‘Do Not Call’ list, those two still got through. I’m not sure what my options are, but I’ll definitely read your link. And now…back to the trains! 🙂
