Beep, beep, boink
Persevere… that’s been my byword for the past couple of days as I enter each contact into DH’s new TracFone and then proceed to do the same for my own TracFone. Great sighs of exasperation but I would give anything to know how to silence those keys! LOL Ah me… But the phones are here and usable. We have 270 minutes and don’t have to worry about buying more minutes until the first week of July. What a relief it is. BTW, when TracFone made the switch of our phone numbers, Verizon shut down the old phones and yet they will continue to bill us until the 20th of this month — even though the phones are no longer in service with them. Interesting.
I deposited the first payment for the sale of my glass–a very nice check indeed! I went online last night and shopped! If nothing else came of the glass sale, I wanted a walking foot for my Bernina 1008 sewing machine. I’d wanted one for a number of years (truly) but could never justify the price. Last night, I felt that I had more than justified my desire for one by sewing all of the quilts without the benefit of a walking foot and since I was parting with my glass, I may as well put the money to good use. So I did. It’s been shipped and I should have it Saturday — can you guess what I’ll be doing after it arrives??? he he he I truly can’t wait. It’s supposed to make the top, middle and bottom layers of a quilt move as one as you sew all three layers together. The quilt layers won’t tweak or twist or ripple. Nice…
It’s turned really cold outside — it’s dark now and our friend called with a heads up alert for a Union Pacific train that has a couple of private varnish cars on it. This should be different… they usually move them at the end of Amtrak trains, or what they call "Businessmen’s Special" trains which consist of three or four special passenger coaches and one locomotive. The last car is usually an observation car with a solid glass viewing panel across the back. Nice way to travel! I told our friend that it (the train) would have to wait as we had one ‘in the hole’ i.e., holding for a train coming up, and one was passing him on its way UP the hill (heading east). I see headlights right now, on the train that the one in the hole was apparently waiting on. Once he gets by, the one sitting there will (hopefully) give a couple of toots on his horn and begin moving down the hill towards Bakersfield. Then there’ll possibly be a short delay before that UP train arrives. Fun to sit here in the warmth of the house and watch the trains as they pass one another in the night. The headlights of the one train shines alongside the boxcars and you can see all of the various types of cars in the other train. If we had our scanner turned on, we might hear one of the engineers calling out "Hiball Cable!" which means, you’re clear to go at regular speed through this section of track.
Our taxes are done for this year. I got them done for free (surprise) by AARP Foundation Tax Aide. I never knew about them, but Senator Fuller mentioned the service in her newsletter, "The Fuller Connection." Find out more about free tax preparation services here.
It’s time to get off here and get back to entering phone numbers in my phone. I think I’m at the M’s… LOL Be safe, Be well and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them.
