Change is good…
It has all the makings of a gorgeous day, outside and inside. My project for the day was to get our two new TracFone telephones activated and our contacts entered. I managed to reach TracFone’s customer service after a 15+/- min. wait, but when I did get an operator, she was the answer to my prayers. Very patient and efficient, she had a foreign accent but I could tell she was making an effort to speak clearly and precisely so I could hear and understand her. After some minutes working with her, I managed to get both phones activated, the minutes (and the bonus double minutes) added, and discovered a bit about the phones and how to use them. I think we’re on a roll here. All that’s left is to transfer the contacts from our old phones to the new ones and to see what needs to be done to program the phones with one key dialing. These phones even do texting, although we won’t be doing any of that. The ‘ok’ and ‘back’ buttons are darn near invisible–you have to feel for the little ridge in the center of the button–they’re located above SEND and END. Getting used to the phones will take a bit of time but for $67+/- a month off our budget, the time is well spent. I figured that millions of other people use these phones and I’d heard good reports from friends, so decided to make the change. I can remember when we didn’t have cell phones, and we lived without them just fine then (although there were pay phones almost everywhere you looked!).
Other than the phones, I purchased the backing fabric for the Brown Strip Quilt I’ve been working on for a friend. I think it’s going to be gorgeous, but that’s MY opinion. I hope the recipient likes it.
Just a reminder … here’s the finished top:
I took several of my completed items to share at the quilt guild meeting yesterday morning and by coincidence the speaker for the day was a woman who created Cathedral Quilts. When it was my turn to do Show & Tell, I brought out my Cathedral sweatshirts. I explained that I hadn’t named the designs, and I wasn’t sure why my teacher had named them for the Cathedral pattern. I told the fellow quilters that I had taught a class on this during our stay in Arizona and it was very well received. I also showed them the Brown Strip Quilt top, and received a round of applause for my efforts to make a single mother happy.
I leave you with blessings to each and every one of you. Be safe, be well, and please choose to be happy. We ALWAYS have a choice as to how we feel and how we respond to our experiences.

Very pretty! I love the backing also! I have had two trac phones and liked them both very much. I liked saving money each month even better.

As the Reverend said ” Change is good, except in the Collection Basket”

You sound very busy, but I guess that’s good; better than being bored, right? Love the quilt…very pretty! I had a TracFone once. Now I use Straight Talk, and pay a one-time fee each month (unlimited long distance and internet and email.) but now it’s my only phone, which when I had a land line, the TracFone was more economical. I found both services easy to use and efficient as well. Those phone buttons though; yeah, some of them are practically invisible. Oh well, ya gotta take the bitter with the sweet. That’s just life. Be happy and well. 🙂
