Beginnings of another excellent day–EDIT

I woke to find my sinuses are better — perhaps it’s more moisture in the air — perhaps it’s because it was below 60 degrees outside and the air blowing through our bedroom windows was cool and moist. I am more than ready for Fall weather.

We’ve begun commenting back and forth about what we’ll need to take with us to Arizona. I can so identify with my step-mother-in-law’s regular complaints about not knowing what to bring and what to leave back in Kansas whenever they headed to Arizona for the winter. True, there’s stores there, but you don’t want to have to buy anything that you already have. A list is forming and I have a small table in the dining room where I’ve begun to put things that I think I’ll want to take along. I’m going to buy a couple of flash drives for some of my computer stuff. I won’t have my graphics programs so I’ll miss using that, but I’ll find a way to create without them.

In filing away the pattern for the friend’s baby quilt I came across affirmations for the creative spirit. "The Cre-Attitudes: Beatific Affirmations for the Creative Spirit" was created by Nancy Vittoria Betto in May of 2005. It’s four pages of affirmations that encourage us to believe in ourselves, to reach out and to learn and to give of our talents. As my friend was looking at the baby quilt, she exclaimed that she wanted to pay me for it. Her excitement at seeing the work I did in creating the quilt made me realize that I do have talents that others don’t have. We often take for granted that everyone can do what we do and that’s wrong. We are each of us unique individuals with separate talents and gifts to bring to the world. It’s because we are unique that the world is the way it is. I derive so much enjoyment from creating, whether it’s with paper or fabric, or food. I am blessed in so many ways.
