Carl

Well, I honestly tried to cut Carl off — I quit feeding him cat treats (I ran out and since I’m not used to having to think about cat stuff when grocery shopping, I didn’t buy any new ones). After the big ‘gift’ mess, I resolved that I would ignore his pleading cries when he came calling. I did manage to ignore him….for one day. <sigh> I caved in last night when Carl came crying for his ‘fix’ and I went out onto the deck, pulled a chair off the stack and sat down, waiting. He paced very, very close to me, swishing his tail all across my legs and the sides of the chair. Finally, he looked up at me and put one paw on my knee. I patted my lap and up he came. Talk about excited, he couldn’t sit still. And he even laid up against me, like a hug. Broke my heart… that cat LOVES ME! And I have to confess I love him too. Don’t know what to do about his gift problem, but we’ll just have to deal with it I guess. DH is being really good about the whole situation, joking with me that I’m ‘easy’ and saying it’s MY cat. Yet last night he came out and gave Carl a couple of skritches on his head, rubbing his ears as he lay in my lap. Of course, any time Carl hears DH’s voice, he perks right up, and he follows DH any time he comes out to the deck. I truly think Carl misses his owner, who passed away last November.  

As I said before, I gotta do what I gotta do, and I guess I gotta love that cat.
