Bunco was ‘da Bomb’

It was an excellent night and I scored points for my food–Chili Cheese Pull Aparts, Ham & Chili Cheese roll-ups, fresh veggies and dill dip, Orange 50/50 bar punch and Almond Joy cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Oh, and miniature Hershey’s chocolates and trail mix with more chocolate! Everyone had a great time and I sold all 20 of my tickets for the Quilt Guild’s Opportunity Quilt Raffle. Whoo hoo! I just knew I was going to have to buy all of the tickets myself (or stand on a streetcorner with a sign asking for people to buy them).

Here’s a picture of the quilt. It really is stunning and it’s HUGE … probably a queen or king-size quilt. It was donated to the guild by one of its members who has won numerous awards for her work, plus she’s written several books on quilting, and designs quilts regularly.

Each guild member was given 24 tickets to sell. Mine are sold, thanks to my Bunco friends.

I didn’t win anything, but I had a great time.

Yesterday morning was quite interesting. I received a call from a gentleman who owns a railfan B&B in Cresson, PA."The Station Inn" and who was looking to advertise his business. He’d been a visitor to the Tehachapi Depot 2-3 weeks ago and noticed a sign in the landscaping that read, "Advertise with us." He knew that people traveled from all over the world to see the Tehachapi Loop and the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum, and thought it would be a nice way to let people know of his B&B. I’d heard of it, but then I have railfan friends who travel all over the world. I did some investigative work and I’m hoping he will be able to work out a satisfactory arrangement with the City of Tehachapi, who is the one offering the advertisement opportunity. At the very least, I will write up a short story about his bed & breakfast and add his business’s information to our Link’s page. While talking with him about the Depot, he asked how long we had lived in Tehachapi, and whether I had ever lived back east. I told him we’d been here for 5 years this next month and I’d never lived back east other than in Tennessee. He said he lived across the street from a woman with the same name as mine and she was an artist. Imagine that… I told him that I was very pleased to hear that as I was actually a bit artistic myself, having just recently removed my work from the Paper Arts Exhibit at our local museum. We both agreed that it was quite unusual to have both women with the same name share the same personality/skills/traits. Fascinating…

Not much else to report — I’m off to JoAnn’s tomorrow, bright and early. I was exhausted and in pain when I went to bed — took some meds and only slept for a couple of hours before I woke up hurting. So here I am… sharing my world with my friends here on OD.

Be safe, be well and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them. Life is a wonderfully complicated thing, filled with connections and surprises that can astound us. Enjoy those special moments in life. They were created just for you, because you are special and you are loved.
