13)”Galactic Corps”-11/12/8 (k8)
The "Glacactic Corps" is the 9th book in a series by Ian Douglas that deals with the Fermi Paradox: Where is everyone. If you only take .001% of the planets in our galaxy and say these are the only places intelegant life can form you would come up with 100s of millions of planets. So the question is where is all of this life. Even if you say that faster then light travel can not happen if you factor in the age of the galaxy that still gives you enough time to travel from one end to the next with sub light travel.
Douglas tells the story of an old I mean really old race that wipes out anything that looks like it might grow up into a prowerful enough race to harm it. That is the reason why the skys are not full of our glactic brothers :P. The humans servive by living under the radar until they are advanced enough to fight back. The 9 books take place over 100s of years. Not a bad read.
Douglas loves his marines and the marine’s history so be warned before you start. Also he tends to repeat himself often but I guess that is to help the people that have not read the books before this one.
