Gerty…(15)

Gerty came out in the yard where Johnny was getting Marvin up and over to the garage. Marvin was being cooperative and mindful of who had the guns. With Gerty back he knew that Stu probably had his own problems.
Johnny looked at Gerty and asked,
"Where is the other guy Gerty?’
Gerty gave Johnny her brightest smile and replied;
"In the house"
Johnny just smiled back and kept to the topic.
"Well, I thought you were going to get him out here so we could figure out what to do with these guys. Where is he anyway?"
Gerty continued with her intoxicating smile and replied;
"In the basement."
"Okay…Why don’t you stay here with this one and I’ll go check on our other friend."
Gerty went back to the Camaro and sat back down on the hood and said.
"Okidokie."
Johnny went into the house and found Stu at the bottom of the stairs. Johnny was surprised he was still alive. Gerty came down the stairs and Johnny was starting to wonder if Gerty was losing it.
"Gerty, what are you doing down here? You need to watch the other guy so he doesn’t wander off."
Gerty giggled and said,
"Johnny, no one is going anywhere. I told Marvin, that’s his name you know, "Marvin" that I would slit his throat if he so much as moved. He said he would be very happy to wait right there for us. Marvin wouldn’t lie to me me, I can tell."
Johnny just thought "okay" and moved on to the next problem.
"I don’t think this one is going anywhere Gerty."
"Sure he is Johnny" Gerty replied.
So mister are you going to move or shall I finish you off right here?"
Stu knew that this was no joke and said,
I can crawl if I have to but I will go wherever you say."
"there, see we are good to go."
Johnny decided to go get Marvin to help get Stu up the stairs and back outdoors. Eventually both men were leaning against the back of the truck. Johnny said
Gentlemen, you might have noticed that we have a problem here. What we should do with the two of you ? I think we all know none of us are friends with the police. But we have a trust issue and you are in a bad situation of being the ones who came looking for trouble. Now you are one step from the grave."
Gerty was back to throwing pebbles except now she was throwing them at Stu and Marvin. Gerty added,
"Yep! One step from the grave."
Marvin took a good look at Stu and did not like what he saw. Could that little girl have busted up his friend so bad with hardly a scratch on her?
Marvin braved some words.
"You folks are right that we got what we deserved but we promise if you just leave us be you can count on us never wanting to see your faces again and we have our own problems with the police. "
Once again Johnny was shocked with to hear what Gerty was saying.
"I believe um Johnny. Whadda ya say we pack it up and get on our way?"
Gerty turned to the men and warned,
"I might be needing that truck one day so you won’t be going anywhere with it, right?"
Marvin and Stu eagerly agreed. The men watched Johnny take off the truck’s plates and lock up the garage. both stood shocked as the couple drove off with Gerty smiling and waving out the window. Neither men could believe they were still alive and never told another soul what happened that dreadful night.
