words

it drives me nuts
to write these words
there’s many rules
from writing nerds
there’s past and present
tense you know
which relates to when
you come and go
there’s shortened words
with apostrophe’s
and capital words
I never see
I try to write it
smart and true
but it never ends up
the same as you
I double check
reread the draft
to Word it goes
computers crash
and in the end
all that I do
I just give up
then print to you

Do you ever feel like the poem writes itself and uses you and your hands as tools to put it in writing? I often feel enslaved to a poem, but I’ll gladly lend my services to bring a poem into existence.

To our dear the Voice Inside: I do like your note. It has a good sense. Sometimes I feel that I’m enslaved to a certain poem or to the course the poem wants to lead me, but mostly it is me who lead the way and control the theme, the rhyme and the diction. Have a nice day!
