Gerty… (2)
Johnny didn’t quite understand why he seemed so drawn to this unusual but very energetic girl. Gerty was sorta pretty but she tended to overwhelm the room. Johnny didn’t mind though as it was nice to get laid especially by someone who he didn’t find himself trying to ditch the next morning. It actually was nice having the perky little dishwater blond running here and there in his apartment.
Ho Ho what ya know
down the fucking stairs you go
Gerty shook off the little rhyme that has plagued her before it dug deeper into her brain. Johnny seemed nice and he will fit the bill just fine. It’s time to go for a ride and see what we can see. Johnny will take me I can tell. Johnny is a keeper. Johnny likes me not what I can do for him. Johnny wants to do things for me. I can tell.
Gerty seemed like she had been living here forever. She cooked some eggs and bacon without ever asking if it was okay and then off into the bathroom for a shower and whatever else women do when getting ready for the day. What was very clear that Gerty was in no hurry to leave Johnny but seemed itching to get out and about. Finally Johnny asked
"Is there something you would to do, some place to go?"
Gerty beamed a smile and said,
J-man, I want to go every where and do everything. Let’s just hop in the truck and drive. There’s nothing here. I promise I’ll be so much fun."
Gerty slide her hand right up his leg and made it perfectly clear what kind of fun she was willing to have and hell there was nothing here to keep either of them. Come to think of it, Gerty just appeared out of no where anyway. Where did she come from? The thoughts were fleeting as someone’s hand was on Johnny primary thinking organ.
Road trip it is.
After a quick packing of a few clothes and travel essentials it was to the gas station for a fill up and some munchies and beers for the road. A styrofoam cooler and a bag of ice and down the road. Johnny spent the first couple of hours just trying to keep the truck out of the ditch as Gerty was expressing her happiness with the trip is the most distracting of ways. After a too close of a call Gerty settled down and seemed satisfied with chatting although that just made things go from distracting to disturbing.
Do you think I’m pretty?
Are you a good boy or a bad boy?
Are you your daddy?
What the hell does that mean anyway? Am I my daddy? Weird.
And then the singing or rhyming. since the radio was on it was hard to hear the song but Gerty sure wasn’t singing along on the radio. But it passed the time and in between Gerty would be playful and silly and it was alot more fun than Johnny remembered having in a long time.
Bouncy bouncy bouncy ball
bounce dear daddy off the wall
Gerty stared down at her bare feet. She rarely wore her boots but carried them to get in and out of stores and bars without alot of drama.
Boots left prints and made marks. It is hard to explain a footprint on someone’s back…or face. Gerty wasn’t fighting the memories or the echoes that her always one step behind her. The J-man would wake her soon, bring her back. J-man was a keeper.
brush and brush your teeth all day
brush the memories all away
Slowly Gerty sensed that the truck was no longer moving and came back to the J-man. The lights of a tavern gleamed in the windshield as J-man was touching her lightly thinking that he was waking her from a nap.
Gerty didn’t know what sleep was anymore. Gerty didn’t dream anymore. Gerty just remembered. Gerty did not forget.
Gerty stared into the window of the bar. J-man was talking about getting something to eat. Gerty was thinking the very same thing although Gerty had something different in mind regarding what might be on the menu.
