AWOL

Been absent as charged fro OD but I do have an excuse – a really good excuse…for this week at least.

I’ve been helping my mother sort out a funeral. Her hubby died a week ago – not from his mesothelioma but, after the coroner had done his job – due to heart and blood flow issues primarily.

He was sitting in the ‘summer house’ when he went down and mother tried for an hours to help him get up but was unable to get him up. Neighbour came to help tried CPR but was unsuccessful as were the ambulance crew.

Police came and took statements then off he went.

There is something tricky in sorting out funerals where the coroner is involved but t least it got sorted as it was straight forward in the end. Its just the running around, paperwork and phone calls that need to be made.

My tip for anyone of any age, certainly in the UK but it probably applies elsewhere, is keep details of bank accounts, any benefits, pension details, bills and accounts in one place. Not neccessarilly  all the papers but certainly the details of who they are with – just makes it easier for those dealing with the estate. Even if the estate is not worth that much one still has to get the stuff together.

And a copy of the death certificate at £4 per copy – get a load. You will need them rather than just one or two and wait for them to return from where they have gone.

If you want them later they are £7 (in the UK anyway).

Yep its been a long old week and that continues until the funeral on Wednesday.

Hotels and fuel have done well out of this – south coast her we come.

How awful for your Mum. Loosing someone is sad enough without the investigation. She must be glad to have your support. It’s not your father I assume.
