A fun, fabulous, and fantastic weekend!
My diary, recently, has been my recipe sharer more than an actual diary of thing happening in my life. For good reason though, nothing much has been going on except cooking and, well, I love to cook.
But, this weekend was a different story. It all started a couple of months ago when I was looking through the Memphis Redbirds website and saw that the Redbirds were going to play against the St. Louis Cardinals in Memphis on a weekend that I was planning on being home. Needless to say, I was all over that and planning a group get together to go see a kick ass game between the Cardinals and the Redbirds!
However, with my new found unemployment and the fact that tickets turned out to be $45 a seat instead of the normal $16 for the seats I wanted to get, an en masse get together was not to be. But, two tickets and a very generous Gina later, Rich (Juliannes fiance) and I went on Saturday to watch the game.
Talk about a great day! Rich drove and I rode in the go fast car which is a Ragtop Mustang and the day was just too nice not to ride with out top down. When we arrived in downtown Memphis, we headed for the park to pick up the tickets that were waiting and got a great surprise after we headed to our seats. We had front row seats that were right behind the Redbirds dugout! It was so close that I could put my feet on the top of the dugout. I was extremely pleased!
The food at the park was very good yet expensive. Funnel cake, jumbo hot dog, cracker jacks, diet coke, a rum drink and I was full until dinner!
The Jumbotron where the significant plays are replayed.
Albert Pujols warming up before the game.
Turning in the line up to the umpires.
Joel Alberto Pineiro pitching.
Albert Pujols swinging away!
Foul ball!
Jose Oquendo out of retirement for the exhibition!
The Redbirds manager Chris “The Hammer” Maloney up for the last pitches of the game. He grounded out.
Rich and I after the game was over. We had such a good time!
Afterward, we met up with the women at El Patron after they had enjoyed a 4 margarita pitcher lunch (Gina did not imbibe due to her diabetes) and then off to a friends house for hamburgers, brats, smoked sausage, some good company and lots of laughs! I had some rum (rum loves me and I love rum) and we decided to go ahead and spend the night instead of driving back home for the evening.
On Sunday, we woke up and headed for IHoP for breakfast then on to Sams club to do some shopping and then home. We all had such a good time!
Till Next Time,
Blessings!
sounds like a perfect weekend!

Yep! It was a great bit of fun. I can’t wait to do more games, and even a roadtrip to St Louis might not be out of the question.
